Unlike for-profit companies who sell genetic test kits to the general public for the purpose of detecting genetic ancestry, the genetic portion of the Dog Aging Project is designed to answer specific scientific questions. As much as we would like to be able to provide DNA Kits for all members of the Dog Aging Project Pack, we are limited by current grant funding.
Our veterinary team has reviewed the medical records submitted by members of the Pack and identified dogs with the age, sex, size, genetic background, geographic, and health parameters that will be most informative for the this portion of our research. These dogs have been invited to participate in our additional genetic studies.
We hope to apply for further funding to expand this part of our research so that we can include many more dogs in the future.
