TRIAD participants are selected from the Dog Aging Project Pack based on the specific eligibility criteria, evaluation of medical records by a team of veterinary professionals, and an initial veterinary screening.
To be eligible for TRIAD, dogs must be:
- 7 years old or older
- 44 to 120 lbs
- up-to-date on vaccinations including rabies and distemper
- up-to-date on heartworm tests and be on or be willing to be on heartworm preventative (state specific)
- have no major medical conditions or regular medications that would indicate poor interaction with the study medication
- be non-aggressive and able to remain compliant through lab work, exams, and tests performed at all appointments
Additionally, owners should fulfill the following:
- be able to transport their dog to the nearest TRIAD clinical site every 6 months, which includes the initial eligibility assessment, for three years
- maintain regular veterinary care for their dog
- keep a Medication and Observation Diary throughout the first year when administering the study medication
- answer surveys and provide information about their dogs health in a timely matter over the course of three years
