Once a dog has joined the Pack and has been identified as a potential candidate for TRIAD, the owner will receive an invitation to proceed into the eligibility process. If they decide to proceed, we will guide the owner through the informed consent process and ask them to complete a comprehensive assessment.
The TRIAD coordinator will then schedule a phone call with the owner to discuss expectations of the owner(s) and their dog and determine if the owner is still interested in participation. If the owner indicates interest, the TRIAD coordinator will schedule the initial veterinary screening appointment with the nearest TRIAD clinical site and give instructions for what to expect at this appointment.
Following the initial veterinary screening, our team of veterinary professionals will review the findings and results in order to determine final eligibility for the TRIAD cohort.
If our veterinary team determines that the dog is no longer eligible for TRIAD, the dog will remain a valuable Pack member, eligible for other studies. However, if this team determines that the dog is a good candidate for TRIAD, the owner will be invited to sign the final interest confirmation and sign the Informed Owner Consent Form. The dog is officially part of TRIAD!
